Shelters on Bust stops of Hospitals
The Chairman of Insaf Society noticed in 1996 that there were no bus shelters available for passengers waiting for the public transport in the city especially at the points of hospitals. The patients had to wait for buses in high temperatures of 55 degree centigrade under the open sky. Mr. Mansoor applied for building permits from Lahore municipality in order to construct bus shelters at his own expense especially in front of all the hospitals in Lahore. The chief officer of Lahore Municipal Corporation declined his request for giving permits excusing that bus shelters might be used for advertisement purposes. In realty; the chief officer did not give the permission to construct those bus stop shelters because he wanted the organization to pay him the bribe to get the approval for this noble work. Undeterred, Mr. Mansoor continued to pursue this mission and ultimately after a period of four years, the matter was taken up by the Municipality mayor itself and bus shelters were constructed in the city.
